Pet Vaccinations

Hawthorn East Vet

Vaccinating your pet against preventable diseases is one of the best ways to ensure their health and wellbeing. They keep your pet safe from transmissible diseases in boarding facilities, at parks and even when they visit us. They’re also less expensive than the cost of the treatment for the disease they protect against too – prevention is always better than the cure! And we know that injections aren’t that much fun, so we make the process as stress-free and pain-free as possible.

Cats, dogs and rabbits all require regular vaccinations and various factors influence what vaccinations your pet needs, so have a chat to us and we’ll come up with the best vaccination program for your pet. We use early finish puppy vaccines and extended duration vaccinations in adult dogs. By taking a small blood sample, we can also check your dog’s protective antibody levels and find out whether a booster is required.  We recommend all cats, even indoor only cats maintain current vaccine protection.

    Our Approach to Vaccinating

At Hawthorn East Vet we prefer to develop a personalised vaccination plan for each pet, rather than adhering to a fixed vaccination schedule. This ensures that your pet gets all of the protection it needs, without any unnecessary vaccines.

To make sure your pet only receives the vaccines it actually needs we employ a special kind of blood test, called titer testing. With a pre-vaccination titer test we can determine if your pet already has the required protective antibodies in their blood. This testing is considered best-practice for veterinary vaccinations, and may reduce the quantity and frequency of vaccines required for your pet to be protected.

    Our Approach to Vaccination Costs

At Hawthorn East Vet we strive the best quality of care for your pet throughout it’s life. As our approach is to develop a personalised vaccination plan for your pet, we cannot provide a list of fixed vaccination costs.

As we employ pre-vaccination blood tests (titer testing), we may be able to assist with a vaccination regime that involves fewer and less regular vaccinations overall (without compromising your pet’s health or safety).

If you are interested in getting an estimate for the cost of vaccination your pet please give our team a call. They can guide you through our vaccination approach, and with details about your pet they may be able to estimate the cost of vaccination.
