Just like people, pets need regular check-ups to stay happy and healthy. Annual wellness exams are one of the best ways to catch health issues early, stay on top of vaccinations, and make sure your furry friend is living their best life. Whether you’re a first-time pet parent or a seasoned pro, here’s a quick look at what happens during your pet’s yearly visit.

🐾 A Warm Welcome

When you arrive, our team will greet you and your pet, check you in, and ask a few questions about how your pet has been doing. This is your chance to mention any changes in behaviour, appetite, mobility, or other concerns you’ve noticed since your last visit.

🩺 Nose-to-Tail Exam

Our vet will give your pet a full physical exam, which includes:

  • Checking the eyes, ears, and mouth
  • Listening to the heart and lungs
  • Feeling the abdomen for any abnormalities
  • Examining the skin, coat, and body condition
  • Looking at teeth and gums for signs of dental disease
  • Observing gait and mobility

This thorough exam helps us catch small issues before they become big problems. Sometimes it might seem the like the exam is minimal but unfortunately, we are limited to what we can do. That is way information from you and how they have been, is very important.

💉 Vaccinations & Parasite Prevention

Based on your pet’s age, lifestyle, and medical history, we’ll update any necessary vaccines. We’ll also chat about flea, tick, and worm prevention options to keep your pet protected year-round.

🧪 Routine Testing

Depending on your pet’s age and health, we might recommend:

  • Bloodwork to screen for issues like kidney or liver disease as well as getting a baseline health status to compare to.

These tests are especially important for senior pets or those with ongoing health concerns.

🐕 Chat Time & Questions

We’ll take time to answer any questions you have about diet, behaviour, exercise, grooming, or anything else. Our goal is to support you in keeping your pet healthy and happy at home, too.

📅 See You Next Year!

After the check-up, we’ll let you know when your pet’s next visit should be and help you book in advance if you’d like. Regular wellness care is one of the best ways to help your pet live a longer, healthier life.
