Pet Insurance
Hawthorn East Vet
We are fortunate in Australia that our Medicare system is able to cover the cost of most human medical treatment. Unfortunately there is no medicare for pets. At Hawthorn East Vet, we’ll always try to keep costs as manageable as possible, however it is inevitable that costs will be incurred when a pet requires treatment.
Pet insurance in one way you can prepare for and manage costs if your pet requires treatment. Having insurance can help reduce your stress during these worrying times, and means that we can concentrate on ensuring your pet receives all the care they need, when they need it. With or without insurance, you can rest assured that we will always discuss every aspect of your pets treatment with you – including the costs – so there are no nasty surprises.
We encourage you to research to find the policy that best suits your needs.
Vets Choice is one option and is a pet insurance product backed by a 20-year partnership between Guild Insurance and the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA)
Housecalls
In most cases it is advantageous to bring your pet into the clinic where we have all the necessary staff, medication and equipment to treat your pet. We understand Vet visits can be stressful and we try to minimise this and make both you and your pet feel as comfortable as possible. In some cases, where you or your pet are not able to come into the clinic, we can arrange for one of our Vets and nurses to do a home visit (an additional charge applies and 24 hours notice is required).
